But I'm not sure it was 'the usual tosh'. He said that now we 
have a trojan and a route for it, there is a group of Mac users 
whose machines are not free of viruses. That was quite accurate. 
I suspect it was spot on, I seem to remember having skimmed it 
that he said this was a small but genuine change in the 
situation, and that is accurate. There IS a group of Mac users 
whose machines have a Trojan now which wil only disappear if 
they do a clean install or run a virus-check.

I think it's important to remember that there are always new 
people coming into using macs who don't quite know the 
situation. I agree that we should not be running constant 
checkers but it's worth mentioning free options like ClamAV. 
It's probably worth running this occasionally whatever your 
usage eg in case you pass on a Word virus. It also raises the 
possibility that if someone posts to the list about problems, we 
should wonder whether they have this Trojan (they may not 
volunteer info about whether they illegally download software).

Does anyone know what this Trojan actually does?
