It's probably also worth considering a couple of alternative solutions:

(1) archive old/unused stuff from the current drive to e.g. DVD to  
make more free space (probably the cheapest option)

(2) add a cheap external drive instead of upgrading the internal drive  
(probably better value and certainly quicker/easier than upgrading the  
internal drive)
