Enough on this please.

To my mind it is clear when someone offers a service that there 
are other alternatives and to say 'of course you could go 
elsewhere' is pretty redundant. I thought the original 
'offending' message was actually helpful, providing a phone 
number for convenience, but was not a hard sell of any kind. I 
note that in the past, members of this list have been well 
treated, with discounts and the like by those who offer 
commercial services here and that the culture is about right as 
it is, or certainly hard to improve on. I've seen many lists 
that are far worse and few that are better.

As such, the admin list-mom position is that the original post 
was fine and no apology was needed.

I suggest this is a precedent for future similar posts. Should 
someone be more aggressive in their marketing or misleading, 
then that's different.

I also note that the person who started the complaints (who 
joined very recently) has now left now so essentially it is 
'business as usual'.


Anyone who strongly disagrees with my position feel free to get 
in touch with me directly, initially please, for discussion.
