Dear SMUGs, I'm currently trying to do a firmware upgrade on a Netgear router but the download upgrade keeps failing. I've saved a router settings file and upgrade initiation file onto my desktop as instructed by Netgear. When I click on the settings back up file (cfg) the Mac asks me to specify the application to open it with - fair enough. When I click on the upgrade initiation file (.img) I get a 'no mountable file systems' error message. I assume that this is becuase this is for the router's and not the Mac's systems but might point to why the upgrade is failing.
Having come from a PC background I confess that I've never fully understood the mounting convention so the answer may be obvious. If not, I'll try the same exercise on an ancient PC and see if and see if that results in a successful upgrade to the firmware. As always, all contributions gratefully received.
