Thanks for the input. I am editing the clips in FCP (the one before the latest version) and all is working fine. My only query revolves around the apparent decompression of the files as they transfer from the camera to the computer, whether that is "normal" or whether I can alter something in the process to be more economical with the hard disk space without prejudicing the quality of the edited movie.
A pal of mine uses the same camera to edit using Pinnacle on a PC and his files move to the PC exactly the same size as they leave the camera. I wonder whether there is something about the Log and Transfer process that I should change?
