If I have emailed to someone's website email address how close to my actual
location can the IP locate me?

I have communicated to someone via their email address that connects to their
website.

The email I use in this instances is one with no identifying information about
me-- no name etc no real info even in registering for the email -- which is
gmail.com.

The communication was to carry on an off list IMPERSONAL discussion revealing
nothing personal. I have rarely ever done this-- for obvious reasons.

Now I am dealing with a loose canon. Threats of "tracking down my IP".

>From what little I understand just having a website and server does allow a
>certain ability to track someone. But how close?

Boy this will teach me to disabuse my normally good instincts!

Help appreciated.
