Lightroom and Aperture are for image development, not editing. They're very 
good at manipulating images for tone, contrast, colour etc but you can't (for 
example) cut round something and put it into another photo. I'd say a 
combination of Aperture (I personally prefer the interface over Lightroom) and 
Pixelmator would be the most effective. Aperture to catalogue and enhance the 
images, then Pixelmator for advanced editing.
