Very red face at this end! I was using the 25 disk I bought to upgrade the
iMac. Works fine with the Macbook Pro disk. Very embarrassing.

I have noted your views on resetting the SMC if I need to do it again.

The Disk Warrior predates the Macbook.
THen that's why DW won't boot but you can usually get a download that lets you burn an update.

Don't be embarrassed. I once went to a friend's house to help him get his printer working. We tried everything and after two hours, I said I couldn't think of anything. As I left, I noticed a trailing plug...his wife had vacuumed the day before and unplugged it (to be fair to us, it didn't have any power button or flashing lights etc, this was the 90s).

Ever since I have had the nerve to say things like "are you SURE...?"...;-)

You had three different disks, each with a different reason for them not to work...!
