If this has happened very recently it may well be connected to Apple wanting 
better passwords for your Apple ID account which impacts all connections to 
Apple where a password, which must now contain both letters and numbers, is 
required. I had this happen 2 days ago. I changed my password to a much 
stronger one and life resumed as normal, apart from having to update the 
MobileMe preferences panel on every Mac and also on iPhone and iPad.

Bit irritating but doesn't take long.
