wipe the SIM contacts (the brass coloured bits) with a very clean cloth
or tissue. They can occasionally get greasy which means they fail to
connect.
also, um, are you sure you've put it in correctly? Worth checking, don't
shoot the messenger;)

I've been getting a no sim message on my ipad even though it's got
one in there thats fully paid up. i cant fathom it. i've obviously
tried turning it on and off. Any ideas other than taking it baxck to
apple, which would be a nightmare as i'm wanting to use it on my
travels with sims from native countries providers. i must confess i
havent tried any other sins in there.
i've also tried taking it out and cleaning it.
