I¹ve just come back from a trip to Gibraltar (warm and sunny!), while there I tried the iPhone app ³Viber² to phone home to my wife¹s iPhone (free of charge).
I would describe Viber as a Skype type application that can be used as a substitute for the Phone app. when calling other iPhones with 3G or WiFi at both ends, it can also receive calls and has a distinctive ring tone. The thing I liked about this app is the clarity of the sound (no video) which is probably the best audio I have ever heard on a phone call. I recommend it if you want to call other iPhones (Viber to Viber) for no charge within the UK or abroad. How they can provide this service free of charge (the App is free to download as well) I have no idea.
