well, after half a day of wrestling with Lion Server I can safely say I have never been this disappointed and annoyed with an Apple product.
Apple have seen fit to remove MySQL and replace it with PostgreSQL, making hosting of the wordpress sites I'm building for people currently impossible on my MacMini server. Most of the server administration options have been removed, such as custom share names, and the whole system feels dumbed down. The server seems dog slow, most of the services such as iCal, Web and DHCP decide to switch themselves off at random intervals. The log is littered with errors relating to push notifications and I can't even install Xcode without errors (downloaded fresh from the App Store). I know Apple are trying to make servers accessible to the masses but to do this by removing important and commonly used features seems completely insane. So now I have to uninstall PostgreSQL, reinstall MySQL and hope future updates don't undo my hours of hard work. In the meantime, all of the sites I'm developing for my clients are offline. Unbelievable!
