I've found Mail to be a pain ever since I switched to Apple five years ago.
We installed Thunderbird and standardised on that across all our computers.

I find Mail on my MB pro is a pain, so I access emails ( gmail) through Safari.
On my iPad, Mail works brilliantly. I love being able to see immediately how
many emails there are in each email account, and there are no duplicates.

Subject: [sussex_mug] mail

Mail has just downloaded me a duplicate of every message I have received from
15 September. I am busy deleting thousands of these.

It has also (as SMIGgers will know) taken to sending duplicates of messages and
it marks mailboxes as having messages in them when they are empty.

Has anyone any idea what's going on? Am I the only person with this problem? Is
there anything I can do about it, other than change app?

I'm using system 10.6.8. The downloading of the duplicates is new, but the
other behaviours have been there for some time, and I wrote about the dud
numbers on mailboxes before.
