We have been with WM for a few years now for Internet Access only. It has been a mixed bag so far, and when I 'phoned up threatening to leave over what I consider to be a generally less-than-reliable service I was offered an upgrade to 30Mb broadband at less money than we have been paying for our existing service!
Along with this came a new modem, a so-callled Netgear "Super Hub" VMDG480. It seems to be proving a rather temperamental modem though in regard to the WiFi connection. It uses WPA-2 security, and my feeling is this is the issue. The odd thing is that at times of the day any of our WiFi connected computers, both PC and Mac, will suddenly show as disconnected. Then trying a re-connect sometimes works and then sometimes not. We have not had this issue with our previous routers. Re-setting the router is a common occurance now and that seems to usually make things come good. There are other settings in the router software - currently set to WPA-Auto, I could choose WPA2-PSK[AES], WPA-PSK[TKIP], WPA/WPA2 Enterprise, or WEP. There is also something about a WPS Pin setting. I'm afraid that I know nothing about the details about these but if one of them would be more reliable and work with all our computers it might be worth investigating? Sorry about the ignorance. I have learned what I know about computers only through trial and error and this forum!
