Thanks as ever Sam, but given that:

a) I'm nervous (to say the least) about opening up my shiny and
just-out-of-warranty mid-2011 iMac and sawing bits up inside it - I only have
one Mac should I screw up!

b) I don't know of anyone around here to do it for me

why is it "better" to get someone to fit an internal drive rather than simply
plug in an external drive via the Thunderbolt connector?

Just curious ...

Of course I could always "book you in" next time I come to Brighton :)

Regards,

Stephen

Our enormously productive economy demands that we make consumption our way of
life...that we convert the buying and use of goods into rituals...that we seek
our spiritual satisfaction, or ego satisfaction, in consumption. We need things
burned up, worn out, replaced and discarded at an ever-increasing rate.'
