I would hazard a guess that your problem is actually Talk Talk. In my job, we deal with lots of different providers and we rarely hear anything good about TT, and always hear everything bad about them. Having used a few ISPs, I'd only recommend Zen (and we've been using them for a few years now).

Does anyone know if there's anything intrinsically incompatible between a new iPad and Talk Talk? Some friends of mine are struggling to get an internet connection through TT. Up to now they have only had a PC but it seems even long conversations to Applecare haven't cracked it (so far).
