I confess I lost track reading this...authorise the machine you want to
sync with the iPad first, I think. Sounds like you should just
deauthorise the lot and reauthorise the relevant ones...

Thanks for this, Jason.
In answer to your question, I am asked to authorise my computer. But I
have 5 already authorised, including old ones. I guess I should
reauthorise all, and then authorise the one I'm using: but this one
does not have my iTunes on it, so I am reluctant to do this before I
get home (I'm at a conference). Perhaps this is what I should do:
synch to a computer which is authorised, and then de-authorise all and
authorise the recent ones? At which point I presume I can hope to
download my iTunes library onto my iPad?
Advice and comments (including corrections of assumptions made above)
most welcome! I've specially kept away from putting my tunes on my
iPad till now, but life's conditions change!

What actually happens when you plug it in and sync? Did you tell it
to add music?;)

I wonder if anyone can tell me how to get my iTunes music onto my

It didn't download when I first set the machine up, and I didn't
worry about it then. But now I'm beginning to think I'd like the
stuff on my iPad.
I have not accessed my iTunes catalogue for a long time. One reason
is that I have to do-authorise several old computers, and then to
authorise newer ones. But I don't see why this should be a problem
for an iPad.
Thanks,
