Hi Diana

If it's unable to copy (without involvement from the Mac) then it could be a 
hardware error on the printer itself. Check the HP website for firmware 
updates, which is the software that runs on the printer itself.

Also try opening system preferences > print & scan > right click the 
white-space in the list of printers > reset printing system. It'll remove all 
your printers so you'll have to re-add them, but it can clear problems.

Also try the latest HP printer drivers from the Apple and HP website, sometimes 
I've needed to install both.
