decided to check mic again before the effort required to get it taken
back and now it DOES work but is very faint (unusably faint). All
settings for input gain are maxed out. So now it's not obviously a
hardware fault but is cleary problematic. Anything I can do to boost it
under the hood?
And (looks mainly at Sam) are we still possibly talknig about a hardware
fault (eg flimsy connection)?
