Ahh...good troubleshooting.  Ignore my previous ;)  It has to do with the simultaneous logins to AOL then.  The feature list to 9.0 says it allows it.  I can't get it to work.  I assumed it was because I have the Bring your own access plan.  I did a search on AOL and cannot find any reference to it.

Well I think it is AOL because I have hooked my laptop up as the 1st computer and it works.  It is the 2nd one that I have problems with.

I am sure I will have to call the dipshits at tech support.  You can get a computer geek hired by AOL for $160 to come to your home.  I think I may just do that ...

Ohhh....I've been looking at it, and from what I am reading the answer is different depending on what AOL is doing in your area.  It may be that they require your MAC address (it is usually located on a sticker on the bottom of the router) to be in their database.  I'm afraid the answer may require a call to tech support (AOL) and I know that's like going to a dentist <g>.

Does the laptop acknowledge the network at all?  Are there other computers hooked into the network and do they network together?  Or is it just that the router won't make the connection to AOL?

Here is a good site to answer a whole lot of questions even if you don't have a linksys, it will still provide a lot of info.

Are you using dialup or fast access (broadband)?  Because configuring a router with dialup is theoretically possible, but difficult to get working correctly.

There aren't a lot of significant changes yet, it's a lot of little things.  Some of them have been reported on in the media, like Jen was talking about the other day.  The spyware removal tool sucks, and the broadband router manager is best when disabled for example.

I've been doing it since 1993.  I applied to be a tester because at that time I had the bottom of the barrel equipment, and they needed to know the least sophisticated machines that the new software would run on.  I did it for Compuserve when they first started allowing public users on the system.

Now they give me advance notice of each new release and I test it and use it like anyone else would, I just  have to submit regular reports on how it performs and any problems I encounter.  I'm testing what will become AOL 10 right now.

It's fun, but when you beta test you can count on reformatting your machine very often because beta and alpha (which is pre-beta) software is destructive because of bugs.
