Are you using dialup or fast access
(broadband)? Because configuring a router with dialup is
theoretically possible, but difficult to get working
correctly.

I bought the router that AOL
suggested and I havent been able to get it to work with my
laptop!

There
aren't a lot of significant changes yet, it's a lot of little
things. Some of them have been reported on in the media, like Jen
was talking about the other day. The spyware removal tool sucks, and
the broadband router manager is best when disabled for
example.

I've been doing it since 1993. I applied to be a tester
because at that time I had the bottom of the barrel equipment, and
they needed to know the least sophisticated machines that the new
software would run on. I did it for Compuserve when they first
started allowing public users on the system.
Now they give me advance notice of each new release and I
test it and use it like anyone else would, I just have to
submit regular reports on how it performs and any problems I
encounter. I'm testing what will become AOL 10 right
now.
It's fun, but when you beta test you can count on
reformatting your machine very often because beta and alpha (which
is pre-beta) software is destructive because of
bugs.
