After reading all of
the bitching about the 9C, I'm going to jump in with my two cents worth. I
had a 7UAF that I thought was OK, then went to an 8U and learned to really fly
full-house gliders. I love the radio, I still have it, and I still use it
regularly. I then bought a 9C, because the local hobby shop was out of 8Us
on Ch50, but had a 9C. Not the best reason for buying one, but that is
what I did. I am very happy that I did, I absolutely love the radio.
Granted, I may not be as sophisticated as some of the other pilots out there,
who obviously learned to fly with other radios and therefore prefer that kind of
set-up. Maybe if they had learned to fly with the 8U or 9C, they would not
be so finicky about it. To each, his (or her) own. I like the 9C, I
do not foul up my landings because of switch settings (I have other reasons for
blowing my landings that I am not going to blame on the radio), and I recommend
it to others. I've flown Futaba radios for a lot of years, and will
continue to do so. I also have an Airtronics RD8000, which I think is a
royal pain to program, while others rave about Airtronics.
If you don't like
the 9C, then sell it, and get the 10X or whatever else suits your fancy.
Problem solved. Now, can we go on to another subject?
Still looking for
the perfect thermal.
