Barney,
I too have pondered this dilemma many times. I ended up purchasing both of
them. Was it worth the extra $'s? You betcha. In addition I also
purchased a Stihl Mod. 009L. I have found it invaluable for those precision
cuts such as servo pockets & cutting out aileron and flaps from bagged
wings. My next purchase was a Milwaukee Mod 5460-6. This grinder will
accept either a 7" or 9" disk. This tool is a must for the modeler who
doesn't want to mess around but wants to take laminated fiberglass, carbon
fiber or Kevlar down NOW! Do be careful with the Kevlar though, it'll fuzz
up real fast if you're not careful. Don't even think of using it on foam,
it's so powerful you'll be grinding your fingertips if you attempt foam and
that hurts like hell I can tell you that!! Another addition in my tool
"quiver" is the new Milwaukee 6101-6 Band file. I have found this tool a
must for taking burrs off on metal control linkages or taking off those
pesky little mounts on servos when gluing them in wings if you can't afford
"Blues" with their handy little mounts. My latest acquisition was a Rigid
600 Portable power threader, albeit I had a helluva time finding 4-40 & 2-56
dies for this beast. I can't tell you how many times I've ran out of
threaded stock. I have all these bits & pieces of stock that I have
shortened where all I needed is a short linkage with the threads on one end.
Now I can once again thread the remaining unthreaded stock. No waste!!
I have many more "wants" for my hobby shop tools but at this time I can't
afford them. I can't even afford epoxy, foam or fiberglass let alone a new
glider. I've spent all my money on these damm tools! But I'm ready to go
to work, I can tell you that!
At any rate, Good Luck Barney, on your tool dilemma and I hope I've been of
some help.

Subject: [RCSE] Dremel tool

Having worn out another Dremel tool, so I'm shopping for a new one. Tower
has one for $64 which is the older version with less accessories. Home Depot
has the fancy new version with more accessories for $79. The also have the
new and more expensive cordless.

Have any of you bought the new version? Is it worth the extra $$$$? Is the
cordless worth yet even more?

Thanks in advance.

Randy
