More info. Injoy does, indeed, have a needle bearing 6V 3110 available:
new, not reconditioned. Ought to be pretty good, except that I'm leery
of a 6V motor when launching smaller planes. One mistake, and you could
convert someone's Gentle Lady back to a kit. I'll go that route, if
necessary, but I'd still rather stick to 3115 motors.
I'm hoping that Real Balls or some other ball/roller bearing end caps
will become available. In the meantime, a Torrington B-1010 needle
bearing will very nicely replace the front bushing. (Thanks for the tip
to Tim McCann.) I should have this setup flying by next weekend, with
any luck. I'll post the results.
