I've been quite happy with Sprint for several years. Had a Kyocera
6035 for a few years that acted as a wireless modem thru standard
Windows dial-up networking, thru my Vision plan. That Vision plan is
around 115kbps, about 2X dialup. Actually quite usable if have no
broadband, considering the cost of $15/month.

Since the Treo 600 came out, I switched to it. Pretty much works the
same. I use the usb cable Treo supplied, but dial-up networking
doesn't work. Needed to get PDAnet s/w which is rock solid. I'm very
happy with this setup. If I can't find wifi, this Vision is almost
always available. The neat part is I use the same Vision for web
browsing on the Treo (can read and reply to gmail & hotmail, and do
most other Internet browsing) & it handles SMS messages. Gmail has a
fantastic filter that will forward emails from any filter you can
define & push the 1st 160 bytes to any cell phone that has a data
plan. This filter comes with, what I consider to be the best web-based
email (currently >2.5GB, and ALL searchable, just like it's parent,
Google), and the forwarding is included in the price: FREE. If anyone
wants an invite to gmail, send me an offline email.

With this Vision being $15/month, I'm a happy camper. There has never
been a question from Sprint on my use of the phone as a wireless
modem.

I'm currently with SPCS, which I've been with since '98. I've been
thinking about getting one of the cellphone companies' broadband PC-Cards
to supplement the WiFi in my laptop. Considering the plans are expensive
(IMO) for what you get, speedwise, plus telcos LOVE contracts (even if
you buy your equipment outright) I've never gotten past the "thinking
about it" stage.

Does anyone know if Sprint's EV-DO solution is any faster than VZ's
setup? I'd imagine VZ is in more places than SPCS, too.

Anyone on this list done a comparison?
