I have some neighbors running Windows who are connecting to my network
(authorized). I'm using a Linksys WRT54G and all Linux internal
services. I monitor connections to the AP every five minutes and record
interruptions for the authorized users. I find that the neighbors lose
connection every few days. Unfortunately, they are not savvy enough
to provide any correlated feedback that might identify a local cause.

I have found that power-cycling the WRT54G will usually
clear the problem and bring up their connections, without any
action on their part. Since the AP is on a pole on the roof
(<http://www.compata.com/wisp.html>) and I'm using PoE, I hooked up
an X-10 adapter and drop power for eight seconds every hour with
a cron job. My logs show most connections restored shortly after the
power cycle.

I've never noticed this problem for my own wireless connections to
the AP from Linux laptops. However, I don't do that a lot since I have
wired connections readily available.
