Two years ago, sharing wireless internet access from your DSL line was
fringe. Now it's differentiating broadband companies like the niche
provider Speakeasy from behemoths like Time-Warner cable.

Sean's use may be fringe right now - but I could see where using a PDA and
laptop at the same time would be nice. What about wi-fi/3G phones? Will
T-mobile require another user account to use multiple devices carried by the
same person?

The demands of a single user are expanding beyond 1 laptop, 1 link. Sean is
ahead of the curve, but this won't be fringe for long.

I still say customer needs are the rule. Even fringe - unless you want them
to move on to another company that's ready to help them.

PS: Nice topic! These are the issues being addressed by the meeting
presenters tomorrow! :)

Not when the customer's needs are *fringe*, they ain't. I'm just as
technically-demanding as the rest of you, and so are all my TMHS-using
acquaintances; and Sean's request is the first I've heard of someone
wanting to use it on two machines at once (that isn't interested in
*stealing* the service, that is).
