As I said I have tested my network without using the soekris box (cable
internet) and routed it through another linux machine i have (over ethernet
not wireless) and all of the machines get about 19Mb download speeds and
1.5Mb upload speeds.

when I use my soekris box as the router, while still having my end-user
machines routed through it over ethernet, that speed drops to 1.5Mb
download, and 1.5Mb upload. So the Soekris is certainly the cause of the
choke.

as far as the wireless setup is concerned its running at 79mW according to
the kernel, 300mW in reality, with a 10db antenna, connecting to a apple
macbook/airport within 100 feet.

so, naturally there will be a choke on the throughput depending on whatever
bitrate the wireless is able to function properly at, but this is not the
case for my wired-only tests.

Tomorrow (its quite late) I will see if the Soekris' CPU gets pegged when
its transfering files, though I have done it before (a while ago) and I
believe it is not.

I could really use some help on this, thank you for taking the time.
