The bandwidth does depend on the soundcard.
Most motherboard built in soundcards will support 48 kHz bandwith giving you 
+/- 24 kHz from the center frequency.
I am using a M-Audio Delta 44 which gives me 96 kHz. You can also get 
soundcards that support 192 kHz.
It does help to have a soundcard that has 2 stereo inputs and 2 stereo outputs 
(like the Delta 44) otherwise you will need to build some sort of switching 
circuit.
