Which would also seem to prove that my modified Superdrug radio (I added an IF downconverter to it) was actually working properly. But surely it's better to feed a stronger signal into the A/D and use as much of its conversion resolution (bits) as possible, rather than feeding a tiny signal into (say) a 16-bit A/D and only getting 4 bits (or so) of usable signal?
