Maybe it's also due to the fact that I've set softdevice to 16:9 and  
not "default". Here are my screen shots:

A 16:9 broadcast shown correctly, soft device is set to 16:9 aspect  
ratio. Then the same broadcast using the "default" aspect ratio; the  
image is stretched, black bars are added on top.

A normal 4:3 broadcast in 16:9 aspect, black bars around only the  
channel logo pops out. Then the same broadcast using cropmode 16:9.  
Again, the image is streched horizontally, but the black bars on top  
remain. Other crop modes only stretch the image.
