well Joey, if you are going to get funky you may as well use custom geometry instances. this way the geometry lofted along the strand (a separate grid positioned in space is exactly the shape / position / offset from each curve you want it to be.
for efficiency though Strands would be preferred and 2 strands on top of each other *could* be ok if it is just *Strand Width* you want to offset them by and then if artifacts could be offset by a tiny offset increment surly which would help the overlap?
