I haven't used it in a while so I don't know if it still works in the latest Softimage version, but the FXNut_SaveRenderMesh mental ray shader exports whatever you render to obj. You might end up with a ton of objs, but you can use a script to import all of them and merge them together. Something you might want to look into.

It's not working for me. (I'm trying to convert a cloud from mbFeathers to meshes.)

        Hey guys,

I've tried a few of the options out there to turn a pointcloud
of instance shapes to a mesh and they're all rather slow when
        you have 20k particles.

Has anyone ever come up with a clever workaround? Like would
it maybe be faster to write out an obj by hand of the
duplicated meshes and bring that in vs doing a Duplicate()
        command or using ICE topology?

        Any help/tips appreciated.
        Cheers,
