Sorry, but those don't really answer my questions.
The review just talks about laser scans and cloud generated point clouds, nothing about manually working with images. And the helpfiles don't even mention Recap Pro.

Like in my original post, I'm just looking for a ImageModeler alike program that can deal with 32bit files. But after a fruitless day of searching, there seems nothing out there that can do environment rebuilding by hand based on photo's or panos.

And I don't really care for a 450,-/month subscription package for stuff like this.

But the price/feature difference between Recap and Recap Pro is a
    bit much for now.
And finding out anything more on Recap(Pro) besides the non
    narrated videos is aweful btw....

There are two things here, both are related but directly
connected. You can use one without the other, if you wish to.

ReCap Pro is a standalone desktop application that allows you to
work with scan data, from whatever source – photo or laser. If
you have scan data in a supported format, you can import it.

ReCap 360 is the cloud platform for viewing and sharing data
published from ReCap Pro. Within 360 there’s also ReCap Photo
which is Autodesk’s own photogrammetry service.

    Cloud based first steps? Really?

So Recap Pro on the desktop is useless, unless you go through the
    upload to cloud session first?
Or am I mistaken? The website on Recap isn't the most helpful....

123d Catch is just a simplified consumer version of the same thing.
ReCap Photo is the pro version and offers greater flexibility.

Essentially it's all cloud based, so you get your pictures upload them
to our cloud, and then run ReCap photo, you can make tweaks and target points
to improve the accuracy. Meshes can be generated in formats such as FBX (of
course), OBJ, DXF, etc.

You can then take them into ReCap Pro, which is a standalone desktop
application for viewing scan data. You can then make various edits etc before
them exporting your data. ReCap pro can also import scan data from other
sources.

Image modeller is very precise, 123d catch and the rest may be fine but
it is not the very accurate modelling you are used with IM...

I really think are two different things altogether.

        Hi all,

As Image Modeler still works, but slowly starting to show it's age (no
HDRI /32bit file input), I'm looking for something similar.

Something I can use to (re)create a scene from a HDRI panorama or set
of stills, and being able to project the HDRI image back on top of the geo.

After that export to FBX or alike and import into Softimage.

Unfortunately 16bit is the best you get with ImageModeler. It's too bad
the app is dead now..... :-\

        So.... Tips and links appreciated.

P.S. I know about Nuke's 8 new modeling tools, but that's a bit on the
expensive side, same with Mari ;-)
