That is the method I have been toying around in Houdini but truly is not the same, I had to do quite a lot of work to set it up and ultimately you have various rigs going on which slows you down and is far from perfect.
I think their idea is so elegant and simple has made me very interested but as someone mentioned, it will be nice to see what is the pipeline like when updating characters and all that.
