Hi Sven, Thanks so much for the info.

Addendum: Changing MAC IDs can be a bit tricky if you have special network setups like bundling or trunking NICs for speed purposes. Then its not always obvious which MAC ID has to be changed since there are several "burned" into the NIC and only one is used by the OS. The IT guy will probably have no problem with it. Because of the possible licensing trouble I installed a separate network card a few years ago just for the network traffic. And using the onboard NIC just for licensing things. Changing MAC IDs by the OS layer do not always work when it comes to wake up the machines over network (WOL). But this is usually not important to fileservers, I assume. If you cannot change the MAC ID in an existing setup to whatever reason, you can always buy another network card, plug it into the server and change its MAC ID just for Softimage. sven -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Sven Constable Sent: Thursday, February 26, 2015 9:33 PM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: A hypothetically question regarding Soft 2015 license. http://static-dc.autodesk.net/content/dam/autodesk/www/products/autodesk-softimage/docs/pdf/Softimage_Last_Release_Announcement_FAQ_UPDATE_Dec_8.pdf Third point says: " Customers will still be able to transfer their existing licenses to new computers, if required, after April 30, 2016." Personally, I don't think there is or will be any reason for ADSK to not issue new license files if a costumer changed the network card or the license server itself. I got a new lic file a few month ago and I was never on support contract/subscription. Regardless of the above, the license file depends on the machine name and the MAC ID. Both can be changed if neccessary. So even you will_not get a new lic file, you can use the old one. Just google for changing mac ID. I have a hypothetically question regarding Soft 2015 license Our support/maintenance will be up in 1 month for Soft 2015/Maya 2015 and since we bought it mostly for staying with Soft, we don't see a good reason to continue the support. But what would happened if the license server computer dies and since the license is linked to the network chip on the motherboard, will Autodesk help to transfer the licenses to another computer if one is not under support?
