Different email programs are different.  If your mail application 
doesn't allow you to view the remainder of a truncated message, I'd lay 
odds there are programs that you could get for your device that would. 
But the mobile argument is an excellent argument for proper trimming, 
even more than top posting.  Not only will this message load faster on 
your device, but there isn't likely to be any truncating, unless your 
device has abysmally small limits.  And even then, there won't be very 
much to load on the second pass.  Sounds like a win-win to me.
