I got a message that my reply bounced last night so I am resending...

Also if anyone else has any quicksilver info, please send it on...

Lloyd ,
Thanks again for the heads up. Sounds like a good idea to put in a
switch to turn it off during day. Also I switched over to electronic
turn signal control...much better.
BTW, I won't be able to get any replies from Sat early am to early pm
as they are cutting power at my university to do maintaince.

Thanks again,
Fletch

  <pre wrap="">Fletch,
The CB550 has dual down tubes from the steering head.
I like the Quicksilver fairing just fine. It should be a nice size for
the 400. Keeps the wind from blowing on your chest and trying to take
off your Helmet. I find this fatiguing when speeds average over 40 MPH.
The drawbacks to the fairing are that it doesn't have locking storage.
 And, that it has a rectangular headlight that has pretty high wattage;
75/90 if I recall correctly. While the brightness is nice to have, the
electical load really taxes the charging system. The battery will run
down if there is a lot of stop and go traffic when the RPM average stays
below 2500. If you still have the stock turn signal flasher, they quit
when the battery voltage drops. I haven't looked up the specs. But, I
think the 400 charging system has even less output than the CB550. I've
not been able to locate a lower wattage headlight for it. Something to
think about, anyway.

Subject: Re: Any Vetter experts out there?

I have both the Quicksilver and the Windjammer fairings. The
Quicksilver receives a mount quite different than those for the
Windjammer. They are NOT interchangeable. The mount platform angle is
very different.

I have no reliable sources for either of these mounts. Were it me, I'd
probably just fabricate a new mount if I couldn't find one on eBay. If
needed, I can take some pictures of the mount I have for the
Quicksilver, as I believe it is a factory mount. But, note that it is
mounted on a CB550 not a CB400. I'm guessing the frames are different
enough that the mount for a 550 won't fit on the 400.

Hello list, long time no type :)

Any vetter experts out there? After some searching , I found a good
condtion (no scratches etc) Vetter Quicksilver for my 75 400f.

The seller has 2 mounts, one for larger bike (twin tube) and one for
