Jesper, thanks for the reply. Turned out the problem was that Qwest
didn't know the IP's were mine, and they blocked telnet. It threw me
and our ISP off. Anyway, situation resolved.

Subject: RE: [SonicWALL]- help!! One rule isn't working

To summarize shortly:

-i have 5 PROvx'es running rock-steady.

-i have seen spontaneous reboot- but only on firmware versions older
than v.6.2.0.0

-i have seen spontaneous reboots when a guy plugged both lan and wan i/f
into the same switch - that included a total config erase. Don't ask me
why.

-DMZ access ONLY works on firmware 6.3.1.0 and newer. I have spent
"some" time verifying this.

-The psu in the PROvx has never given me any trouble - the external ones
has though (lots :-)

-Had problems with rules when trying to allow for example http to two
different servers on the LAN in two different rules. Never got verified
what was wrong. Can't remember how i solved this stuff (firmware upgrade
maybe). Try to have just one telnet rule for a start.

Above all : do a total reset and use firmware 6.3.1.0 or newer on your
PROvx.

Subject: [SonicWALL]- help!! One rule isn't working

Come into work today and many remote users can't get into one of my
servers. Nothing has changed on the sonicwall, and I'm looking for a
silver bullet to fix this problem.

The rule that is failing is telnet, over TCP/IP (23,6). You can ping
the box, but you can't telnet into it from outside.

I can telnet into it from inside, so I *know* that telnet is up and
running on the box. Other rules are working for other servers...

Anyone else experience something like this?
Does the SonicWall need to be rebooted?
What troubleshooting steps would you follow?

Is this Monday or what?
