Apparently you install j by decompress tgz file under /usr/local/lib, please correct me if this is not the case.
The new libj.so seemed had been copied correctly. please try ldd libj.so to confirm all dependencies have been met. I cannot test it since my rpi has been shelved. Also did mention you are running ubuntu instead of raspian? Are they compatible? BTW the platform of new libj.so said "linux", but I suspect it should be "raspberry".
