raspberry pi 1 model a and b use armv6 with fpu, but debian (and its derivatives) does not provide a version for this combination, it provides either armv7 with fpu or armv6 without fpu. the raspian project forked from debain targeted this market - armv6 with fpu. I can see newer rpi switched to armv7 therefore can run ubuntu armv7l.
If you compile libj.so for armv7+fpu target, it should run faster.
