Good suggestion, (and another project that may languish on my pile of
"things to do") I have noticed that the Pi seems slower than the
information suggests and certainly not using the fpu would account for that.
Thanks!

raspberry pi 1 model a and b use armv6 with fpu, but debian (and its
derivatives) does not provide a version for this combination, it provides
either armv7 with fpu or armv6 without fpu. the raspian project forked from
debain targeted this market - armv6 with fpu. I can see newer rpi switched
to armv7 therefore can run ubuntu armv7l.
If you compile libj.so for armv7+fpu target, it should run faster.

Originally, yes.
You can see my story about it at http://bpi.1e6.com - but the BPi
croaked about a year ago - and so I replaced it with a Raspberry Pi. I
choose Ubuntu because I use it on other servers.
Are there advantages to using Raspian?
I liked the Banana Pi because of its SATA connection and Gbit Ethernet.
The whole field of IoT is hard to imagine for us old timers....

It seems not running raspian, are you using banana pie?

Bill,
It seems to work, I'll pound on it a bit and let you know if anything

Joey,
I cross-compiled and uploaded a j805 beta libj.so for raspberry but I
haven't
tested it. Please try if it works or not. Thanks.

Also, my apologies to Eric. He didn't say in his announcement, at the
head of this thread, that he had done a build for RPi (or any of the
flavors of Android).
Not sure why I barged ahead and then was too addled to see that...
Sorry Eric!

Furthermore, the libj.so in

is dated 2016-01-08 21:46 so is clearly not a new build.
