Kitanya shook her head, setting the glass down and hiding her shaking hands 
beneath the table.  "No, it's not that.  We werrre frrriends, but not that 
close."  She had to swallow - she rarely spoke of the pain that gnawed at 
her in the dark of night, when she was alone and there were no other 
thoughts to blot out the memories.  "My, uh..."  she calmed her voice that 
was shaking now too.  "My own mate disappearrred in a verrry similarrr way 
not verrry long afterrr Rrrhiana did.  So I underrrstand Matt's feelings 
verrry well indeed."
