>Carrhae took in Kitanya's behavior, even the attempt to conceal her
>hands--just as Carrhae had done earlier. "Then I regret refreshing
>memories that disturb you. We shall change the subject, or,..." she
>hesitated. How would this be received from a total stranger? There was a
>subtle shift in her deameanor. "... If you wish to talk, I am willing to
>listen."
Kit shook her head. "No, but thank you. I don't know why I'm acting like
this. It's been a long time, but sometimes it just hits verrry harrrd."
Why was she acting like that? Carrhae was virtually a stranger to her, and
a superior officer, and yet she was showing this kind of very private
emotion in front of her. That was not Kit's style, and she couldn't figure
out why she felt so comfortable with this woman. "I apologize," she said,
forcing her hands to calm down so she could take a sip of wine. "It's
rrratherr embarrrrassing. You think I'd be overrr this parrrt by now."
