"Well, the man is definatly worth checking out. He seems to have
good instincts and good judgement. I would feel professionally threatened
if he were to be Spec. Ops... " Aurellius said with a smile. "I am
concerned about the timing not so much the threat that this new species
brings. We can handle any threat especially with the help fo our good
friends, the Klingons. Any real threat will only unify the Federation, and
Starfleet, until the threat is over. But the impending nature of the
threat is what scares me. We can not prepare Special Operations for this
task in 6 months. Especially with the restrictions that Lasiter has put on
you. If we can't do it, then the rest of the fleet is in *really* bad
shape for prepatations. What ever is going to hap! pen we are going to
play damage control in the early stages of it. It reminds me of the United
States at the start of World War II. Caught off guard, left to play catch
up in the early years of the war."

"That is something I would verrry much like to avoid," she said, sipping
her water. "We arrren't off-guarrrd, merrrcifully, but we arrre woefully
unprrreparred. And unforrrtunately, it doesn't take a lot of investigation
to discoverrr that. And now with all these rrridiculous charrrges against
Brrrennan as well as otherrr negative prrress that anyone with a vid
monitorrr can pick up, it only highlights ourrr frrractiousness in the
upperrr eschelons, which is indicative of the state of the fleet." She was
not happy at all. That and Lasiter's condition, which while she did not
question his judgement, did raise questions about his ability to handle
this situation in the long-term. "It will be an interrresting meeting this
afterrrnoon, and this evening with Lasiterrr. Orrr perrrhaps I should talk
to him firrrst."
