Golan tapped a comm channel to Tamil. "Please send a message to the chief
members of the Council requesting that they meet in my office. I have some
news for them, and I have a feeling they may also have some of their own to
share." With that he closed the line and waited until the other Ambassadors
arrived.
A few moments later Ambassadors Valtris and Ra'aj arrived together.
Golan stood up immediately. "Thank you, ladies for arriving so promptly. I
am hopeful the other Ambassadors will be arriving shortly."
Commander Na'Tral had returned. Unfortunately there was news.
"Good day Ambassadors. It looks as if there is news."
Golan nodded. Apparently, he was not the only one to receive intelligence from the home world. He was not sure that that was a good thing. At least they were here willing to share the information. "That is the reason I invited you to my office. I too have heard some information about our situation." Golan briefed them about what the report he had read said.
Na'Tral was not pleased to here that, but it fit with what she was given. What little there was.
"Qo'Nos has provided me with a similar report," said Valtris more calmly than the previous meeting had inicated was possible for her. "The Venasian ambassador on Qo'Nos remains in hiding. The Venasian military continues to look for her, stating 'concern for her safety.' Several Venasian trade ships which do business within our
territory were seen headed out of Klingon and Federation territories recently. There 5 colonies within Klingon borders; so far, there has been no public reaction from the Venasian populace, and it all looks fairly quiet."
"This all seems a little too politically correct for my taste," was T'Kresh's response. "The Venasians are a proud people. I cannot imagine that they would sit back while a small number of military personnel override their traditions."
"I would not be so sure of that," replied Valtris. "They have been without a homeworld for some time. Their ruling council had been pushing for an alliance with the Federation, and that provided little assistance, as did their more recent agreement with the Dominion. Sometimes current needs can overpower tradition. Just think of what happened with the explosion at Praxis. It provided the need for changes both in our own culture and that of the Federation, which allowed our too peoples to become allies," said Valtris with a smile toward Na'Tral.
She smiled back, ever so diplomatically. "Then let us hope that the change in culture does not evolve into a firm alliance between the Dominion and the Venasians. That would prove to be the single most important threat to the safety of our combined peoples in this quadrant.
That said, I am afraid that I can offer little new information. Federation intelligence agencies report similar reactions from those Venasians within our borders. In fact, Venasians have been reported being welcomed into the Embassy again. This is mildly surprising as the Venasian Military appears to be in control of their embassy on Spacedock." the Andorian offered.
