It was about this time that Joe Garibaldi entered K'Tael's office.

? "Good lord, you see the press lately.? They must smell some fresh meat out
there.", he commented looking a bit harried.

The Klingon nodded.? "It would seem the sharks are circling.? I sicced them on the
station's press officer.? I was not in the mood to do it, and it is his job."

? "Good thinking."

"I have come across something pretty interesting about Admiral Van Der Loo.? It seems
he has some connections with our influential friends, th Bajorans."

"That is an interesting turn of events.? What kind of connections are we talking
about?"

"It appears that he was stationed on Bajor for a period when he was a commander. He
was a diplomatic liaison officer while there. Thanks to his position, he became very
close to some powerful Bajorans. Those same Bajorans are now very influential with
the Federation Council. His meteoric rise in ranks seems to coinside with his
connections to his new friends."

"Do you think he is or could be involved with the hand?"

"Well, my sources indicate that VanDerLoo is a bit of a schemer. He will do anything
for power and control. It does not seem to be overt power he craves, though. He
sounds like he would rather be the power behind the throne, if you get my meaning. I
wouldn't put it past him to be involved with the hand situation, especially
considering his Bajoran ties. The only thing would be whether he had the need or the
interest in doing such."

"Somehow I just don't see how being involved would further his goals of power, but we
should probably continue on the assumption that he would be interested. At least
until we can eliminate his involvement.", Joe answered.
