That is when he thought of his new friend, Katya.  He tapped his comm
badge.  "Caimlyn to Katya.  I was wondering if you could come to my
quarters to discuss something."

Katya tapped her own comm link.  "I will be right there," she said.  For
some reason, she found she liked the young Starfleet ensign.  Katya
wasn't used to having friends.  Her next-door neighbor, the one with whom
she shared a love of gardening, was probably the closest thing she had to
one.  Yet she had said things to this ensign she would never have dreamed
she would say to anyone, and what's more, she found herself beginning to
trust him.

She finished what she was doing and went to his quarters, ringing the
chime.

"Please come in," was the response from the voice inside the quarters.

She went inside, and found herself wondering what his regular quarters
l.looked like, his home.  How would it be decorated? she wondered.  But
she pushed such thoughts out of her mind quickly.  There was no room in
Katya's world for things like that.  "Hello Caimlyn," she said, granting
him a rare smile.

The Aqualish officer could not help but smile back.  "Welcome, Katya.  Thank you for coming so quickly."

Out of the blue, and for reasons she did not fully know herself, she
said, "May I ask you something before we talk?"

Caimlyn was surprised by her request.  He just nodded in response.

(Katya?)
