Bedru thought for a moment before responding. "Sir, they would pose a considerable
threat. While the ships that were holding us at bay were from the Usurpers on the
planet, the Ramesar ships vaporized them without difficulty. According to the
tactical analysis, they did not use the destructive power of their weapons systems.
While I do not feel that we are in immenient danger, approperiate caution should be
exercised.", she answered diplomatically.
"Caution is always a good option. Especially in these times...", Lasiter sais
letting the thought trail off.
"While you were away we made an offer to the Venasians. A planet was found that would
make a good new home for them. Uninhabited, large oceans, the works. However, there
is a fly in the ointment. The Venaisnas claim that there is a high concentration of
Lapizine in the ecosystem. This compound is toxic to them after long exposure. While
we found no traces of it, a second survey is being done. This survey will be
conducted by the Diplomatic Council that he now chaired by the Aqualish Ambassador.
Since the planet is in Federation territory, it is technically ours, but the
Federation has placed the planet in the custody of the Diplomatic Council for the time
being. Starfleet, however, maintains operational control of the planet. As such, I
have dispatched a few ships and a couple battalions of Marines to secure the planet.
They have been building a base camp and other facilities there. If any Venasians
choose to migrate there they may do so....
My point is that I need an administrator of the planet. Since you are charged with
Galactic Exploration and first contact protocols, I want you to be the Administrator."
