"Very well then, Captain. Take the rest of the day off, and start fresh
tomorrow morning. Check in with Commander K'Tael and Intell in the morning.
Be sure that you keep your appointments with the Counselor as well."

"Thank you sir."

"Good, dismissed... Commander Kirk, a moment please."

Joanna responded with a nod.

"Yes sir...." He turned to Kirk, "Commander." As he left, he turned to
Lasiter, "Oh and sir...by all that is holy, VanderLoo will be mine." and he
left.

Joanna was surprised by the Captain's comment. It was the most animated she
had seen him since she had met him that morning. She glanced toward Lastier
to get his reaction.

Lasiter made note of the reaction, but said nothing. It was not so much that he was
surprised, as he was saddened by it.

With David now gone, and the room to themselves, Lasiter decided to bring up
the difficuly questions. "Please be comfortable Counselor. I am concerned
about Captain Boulay. I know that he has suffered greatly, but if he
doesn't get back on the horse quickly he may never," the old man said giving
Joanna the opportunity to comment freely.

"My intention is not to prevent him from going back to work, Admiral. In
fact, I think it is good for him to do so. It will focus his mind on more
than his troubles, and it will help him overcome his fears. I just don't
think it would be wise to put him directly back into the same siuation where
he was traumatized. Doing so could damage him further than he already is.

By allowing him to work on projects that are in the Sol system he will have
the support of family, friends, and officers that he has worked with for
years. That is very important for him at this time."

"I quite agree with you. Just so you know that I will need him to be able
to go out in the field at some point. That must be our goal... you as his
counselor and I as a friend."

Joanna's navy blue eyes looked over the CinC. She gained a new level of
respect for him. It was clear that he cared for David, not just as one of
his officer's but as a friend. it was good to see a CO who was willing to
allow that. "With a team like that supporting him, I don't think David will
be out of the field for very long," she said with a smile.

"That is reassuring to hear, Counselor. Please let me know if I can be of further
help in his recovery. I would like to help where I can."
